For me, successful writing is about engaging with the senses and emotions of the reader. Afterall, how many books or articles have you read to the end when the contents didn't interest, excite or intrigue you?
Writing has always been an interest to me - ever since childhood. The power of writing and the use of stories has been obvious to me throughout my scientific and business career. Particularly so when working with global multi-national organisations on business growth, innovation and transformation.
Having travelled all over the world I have been privileged to encounter many fascinating people, places and cultures, as well as a few 'scary' situations. Drawing from everyday life and encounters, I often also use aspects from past experiences as ideas and inspiration in my writing.
My working life journey from academia to corporate business and then on to that of a writer has been an interesting adaptation - and I have loved it. Having now written and published six books - several of which reached the Amazon top ten bestseller listings for their genre, new ideas are never ending. Other exciting projects are already in the pipeline so there is much more to come.

Feedback is an important part of learning.
This is no less important in writing than it is in any other aspect of professional or daily life. I love to read comments on my work, positive or negative, and learn something from each and every one of them.

As well as focussing on my own writing, I also enjoy sharing my creativity, innovation and business experience to help others.
One of my non-fiction 'work in progress' is writing a simple self-help book about how best to use creativity and innovation in building your own profitable business. Successful writers share many of the same traits as successful entrepreneurs. It's often just knowing 'how' to adapt and apply those traits to building your unique business model that makes the difference between success and failure.
'Create the Unexpected'
Knowledge has limits, but imagination has none.
Creativity and innovation not only make life fun, but also allow us to see things in wildly different ways or, as the late Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen would often say, through different 'Lenses'.
This applies in all aspects of life, business and leisure. In 2011 and 2013, as the architect of and the worlds leading authority on disruptive innovation, Clayton Christensen was named as the 'Worlds Most Influential Business Management Thinker'. Having had the honour to meet Christensen a number of times, and to discuss and work on ideas with him and some of his team, his deep insight and understanding had a lasting effect on me.
My writing style combines reality and creativity to produce a hopefully engaging and immersive story line.
Even in the Corporate world, using stories can be one of the most effective ways to get a message across, understood and [most importantly] retained.
Stories constantly surround us in life. We can all look, listen and learn from them.
